Installation Instructions for the upgrade:
Summary: The file you download is a zip file. When decompressed it will create new versions of the files rockbase.exe and rockbase.hlp which should be placed in your rockbase directory replacing the existing files of the same names. If for any reason you wish to return to your original version of the program it can be copied from the CD-ROM into the rockbase directory.

How to install the upgrade on a Windows 95 PC: Open Windows Explorer by clicking on the Start Button then choosing "Programs" then "Windows Explorer" - find the directory / disk containing the upgrade file in the left hand window of explorer - if you received the upgrade on a diskette then you will probably select the 3.5 Floppy (A:) drive, alternatively if you download the upgrade direct to your computer via a modem you will need to find the directory used by your web access program for downloads (e.g. c:\cserve\downloads) - click on the folder icon beside the folder name. This will display a list of the files in the folder within the right hand window.

Locate the file called "rb2nn.zip" (where nn is the latest version number e.g. rb215.zip) within the right hand window (scrolling down the list if necessary). Click once, with the right hand mouse button, on the file icon with this name. Choose the copy option from the list which is displayed.
Now find the rockbase folder in the left hand window and click once with the right hand mouse button on the word "rockbase". Choose the Paste option from the list displayed.

The file rb2nn.zip should now appear in the right hand window within the rockbase directory. Start the upgrade procedure by clicking with the right mouse button on the rb2nn.zip file icon and choose "Open". The program will extract all the files you need into the rockbase directory, (Enter "Y" when prompted with "Warning file already exists") On completion, close the window by clicking with the mouse on the X in the top right of the window.

When upgrading any software it is sensible to back up your data - to do this with RockBase make a copy of the file "rockmain.mdb" which is in the directory \rockbase\data\full - the procedure is to expand the rockbase directory by clicking with the left mouse button on the small "+" sign beside the rockbase folder in the left hand window. Then click with the left mouse button on the folder "full" under the \rockbase\data folder, in the right hand window click with the right mouse button on the file icon for "rockmain.mdb" choose the copy option - now click with the right mouse button on the "full" folder icon in theleft hand window and choose the paste option. This will create a file called "copy of rockmain.mdb

Close Windows Explorer by clicking with the mouse on the X in the top right of the window - You can now run the latest version of RockBase Plus! (Enjoy it) - Note that the first time you run the program after upgrading, it will take slightly longer to start - this is because some of the file structures have changed and the program automatically updates these.

How to install the upgrade on a Windows 3.1x PC: Open File Manager by clicking on the File Manager icon (normally in the group "Main" - Select the disk drive containing the upgrade file by clicking on the appropriate disk letter at the top of the File Manager window (if you received the upgrade on a diskette then you will probably select the A: drive), then find the directory containing the upgrade file in the left hand window of File Manager - if you download the upgrade direct to your computer via a modem you will need to find the directory used by your web access program for downloads (e.g. c:\cserve\downloads) - click on the folder icon beside the folder name. This will display a list of the files in the folder within the right hand window.

Locate the file called "rb2nn.zip" (where nn is the latest version number e.g. rb212.zip) within the right hand window (scrolling down the list if necessary). Click once, with the left hand mouse button, on the file icon with this name. Press F8 to start the copy procedure. In the field labeled "To" type the full path of your rockbase program files e.g. "C:\ROCKBASE" then press the OK button with the left mouse button.

Find the rockbase directory in the left hand window of File Manager and click once on the icon with the left mouse button. The file rb2nn.zip should now appear in the right hand window within the rockbase directory. Start the upgrade procedure by double clicking with the left mouse button on the rb2nn.zip file icon. The screen may go blank for a short period whilst the rockbase files are created. The program will extract all the files you need into the rockbase directory, (Enter "Y" when prompted with "Warning file already exists")

When upgrading any software it is sensible to back up your data - to do this with RockBase make a copy of the file "rockmain.mdb" which is in the directory \rockbase\data\full - Select the file rockmain.mdb in the right hand window of File Manager then press F8 to start the copy procedure, type in a destination directory for the backup copy - suggested destinations are "A:\" if your rockmain.mdb will fit on a diskette (you will need a blank / formatted floppy disk in drive A:) or perhaps "C:\windows\temp" or wherever your temp directory is located. Make a note of the location of the backup in case you ever have problems.

Close File Manager by clicking with the mouse on the file drop down menu and choosing exit. You can now run the latest version of RockBase Plus! (Enjoy it) - Note that the first time you run the program after upgrading, it will take slightly longer to start - this is because some of the file structures have changed and the program automatically updates these.
